What is a Solar Blind Image Intensifier?

Image Intensifiers are vacuum tubes that act as a light amplifier. When an image is projected onto the input face of the tube it is amplified by up to 10⁷ at the output of the tube, making it easier to image extremely weak signals of fast events.
